The Cochrane systematic review on ECT for schizophrenia found that 1) ECT is probably better than placebo/sham ECT and that 2) ECT is possibly worse than antipsychotics. However, no trial has evaluated ECT for treatment-resistant schizophrenia; and no trial focused specifically on psychomotor symptoms of schizophrenia (as opposed to overall schizophrenic symptoms such as hallucination/delusion/ego disturbance/negative symptoms). |
